Grow Rosie Grow!

She's beautiful, she's strong and she's got a great rack!  Yes Rosie has it all!  (Just like her namesake.)  Although Cranberry and Red are still hanging in there, Miss Rosie has taken the lead in the Great Tomato Race.  Check out the legs on that girl, she must be a runner.  I've included my thumb in this photo so that you'd have some perspective.  (Dime Mater Master, what dime?)

We at the Manual Mater Maker took a hard hit last week, but Mother Nature seems to be looking fondly on us.  I've got maters of this size on 4 other plants, but told Rosie I'd give her the spotlight today since she's the tallest and fullest.  She's on the fourth rung of the "tall" tomato cages and doing very well.  Today is feeding day, I've got a nice blend of kelp and seaweed extract that I'll be spraying all over my babies as well as some soil soak of the same.

I'll post a picture tomorrow once it all has had a chance to soak in.  Maybe then I can get Ella to make that arrogant face again.  (She wasn't feeling it this morning despite several photo attempts.)

Well, Rosie is getting to be quite a looker now! Very lovely maters there. Too bad she has to deal with all those aphids I can see in the photo. Those leaf-sucking, stem bitting little varmints. Not sure if Mother Nature is really smiling on you or not with that infestation she has sent your way. It may have to do with the "Proton Photon Generater" you so willing used earlier this year - a very non-Mamma Nature thingy! And now you think Mamma Nature is going to be your friend? We shall see.

To add to that you are going to use seaweed. Humm.. seaweed vs worm poop. I guess if I were growing sea cucumbers I would consider using seaweed. But this is a tomato race so I'll go with the terra firma loving earth worms since that is were the tomatoes grow.

Certainly this is a close one. Rosie's and Rocky's maters are too close to call. So pile on the seaweed - I'll keep shoveling the sh_t! You might say I have the "scoop on the poop!"

And the dime, yes it is there in the photo. Look at the photo and listen closely - as I said it is at the base of the container. The container is the thingy that the mater is planted in. The base of the container rests on the concrete. So look at the place where the concrete and the container meet, right in the center of the container. There you will find the dime. Yes it looks very small but that is only because Rocky is so very BIG!

Yeah, I was hoping you wouldn't notice those pesky aphids in my photo. I go away for one weekend and they throw a party in my backyard. I will be addressing those punks again today. They will not be back after I finish with them. Funny how I've never had to deal with them before. Now that I'm in a contest they decide to show up. Wonder why.. you sure you haven't been dancing?

As for the fertilizer, well it's seaweed, kelp and fish poop/guts. So we shall see what's better... surf or turf.

Put that dime next to your maters if you want it to serve it's purpose Mater Master. Ain't no maters at the base of the container!

NOT notice the aphids on the plant! Wow, those little guys were all over it - how could I not notice them? You see - I am a professional when it comes to photos and it is easy for me to spot that kind of thing. And after this contest I will be a professional when it comes to mater growing Cause.... I will be paid to grow maters, albeit in beer, but paid none the less. Sooo... Gooo... with the Pro. Put your money on the Mater-Master.

Remember - June 12th is my prediction of the day that I will win it all!

Oh yeah, I have been practicing a little Two-Step out in the garden. Hmmm.. I think I feel the spirit moving me again. It ain't pretty but I guess it is effective!

It sure was effective, but then again so was my aphid terror yesterday. This morning the only thing near by my mater plants was Ella's tail.

I think I'm feeling a bit of toe tapping myself. Here comes the rain Mater Master!

Oops meant to say, the only thing "moving near" my mater plants was Ella's tail!
